PHYSIOTHERAPY : REHABILITATION

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a chaperone?

We understand that sometimes you may want to be accompanied during your assessment and treatment and we welcome any support required. Patients attending the falls clinic service are encouraged to bring along a family member or friend as there is a lot of information to take on board during the sessions.

Parents are welcome to bring in younger children during their own appointments if no childcare is available at the appointment time.

For video consultations, you are of course welcome to be accompanied as you wish at your end.

How will you gain my Consent?

We will ask you to sign a consent form at the start of your treatment

Informed consent is vital and it is good practice for this to be reported in your notes.

We actively encourage an openness between the patient and therapist during assessment and treatment and this will always be treated as confidential information.

For video consultations, your explicit verbal consent will be sought and documented.

What to expect at your appointment:-

  • You will be questioned about your problem, how & when it started, how it feels, what causes any symptoms etc.
  • It is helpful to have as much information as possible to make a more accurate diagnosis, so please bring or have ready any scans or scan/x-ray reports and a list of any medications you take, even if you do not feel they are related to your problem.
  • You will then be assessed and depending on the area involved in face-to-face appointments, you may be asked to remove one or two items of clothing during the assessment or treatment to allow the therapist to examine you fully, as long as you are comfortable with this. We would recommend that you consider bringing along a chaperone in these circumstances.
  • After the assessment, your therapist will discuss with you their findings and a diagnosis. This will then lead on to some treatment including advice on how to manage your problem at home prior to the next appointment.

Do I need to be referred by my doctor?

No.

Self-funding patients can just book via telephone and make an appointment.

However, if you have any concerns about whether you should be attending please feel free to discuss it with your GP first or call the clinic to speak to your therapist prior to your visit.

We are currently recognised by insurance providers including Aviva, AXA Health and VitalityHealth.

Is there parking available?

For face-to-face appointments, there is parking available on a public road alongside the clinic. There is additional parking space in a layby on the A470 opposite the local public house, approximately 50 yards from the clinic.

There is level access to the clinic room.

Are there toilet facilities?

Unfortunately, we do not provide toilet facilities at this time. Visiting patients are advised to use the facilities at the west end of Carno village adjacent to the Spar shop, approximately 700 yards from the clinic. There is a very small charge for the use of these conveniences. There are also facilities available to customers of the local public house (subject to opening hours).

Is the clinic Covid-19 compliant?

Yes.

We have undertaken a full risk assessment of our clinic and have extensive Covid-19 policies & procedures in place.
