Who are we?
Our Clinical Director (Jason) qualified as a Physiotherapist with a BSc (Hons) degree from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1997. In his early career in the NHS he gained experience on medical and surgical wards, rehabilitation of the elderly, rheumatology, neurology, mental health, orthopaedic rehabilitation and musculoskeletal outpatients.
Further experience in West Yorkshire included burns and plastics, spinal injuries, care of the older person and musculoskeletal primary care. He then developed greater specialisation in musculoskeletal practice, becoming qualified as a credentialled practitioner in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy ("McKenzie" approach).
Relocating to Wales in 2004, he developed an interest in falls, frailty and the rehabilitation of the older person. He had responsibility for managing a Physiotherapy team across two sites in the local Heath Board and was the lead Physiotherapist for falls services. In this role, he developed new and innovative approaches to the problem of falls risk, which he continues to research and develop to the present.
He has also led the creation of county-wide community falls clinic services within the local health board and provided leadership and education in falls and frailty to colleagues, while continuing to manage patients' falls risk within his person-centred clinic.
He has qualifications in Advanced Practice at Master's Degree level and is an Independent Prescriber. He is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
