Older People with Movement Problems
At Synthesis Rehab we recognise that as people start getting older, the ageing process can affect movement and the ability to perform everyday activities. This can potentially lead to reductions in independence.
With increasing age it is natural for most people to become a little weaker and stiffer.
Normal ageing can create problems such as difficulty with:
- Walking
- Balance
- Bending and reaching
- Standing up from a chair
- Turning in bed
- Getting in or out of bed
- Getting on and off the toilet
- Getting out and about
- Doing housework
- Reduced activity levels
Synthesis Rehab can offer advice and treatment to help with any of these issues. The emphasis of our service is on improving the ability of your body to function independently but we can also signpost you to appropriate aids, equipment and adaptations if needed.
We understand that these types of problem often benefit from families, friends or carers also being involved in the consultation and we welcome this to maximise the benefits of our service.

Very informative. I attended the falls risk service and now feel much more confident in going out. Jason is a good listener and has a great deal of knowledge about the causes and risks of falls and what can be done about them.
